Navigating the Negative

We actually have a heavy burden to bear with the stigma that has been created for us as ‘Earth based’ Practitioners over the last two thousand year or so. We have chosen this Path carefully and will tackle what comes to us with grace, style and personal strength. We are empowered both by our personal divine strength and the support of those who we walk our Paths with.

In this Lesson, we will share some basic tools for your Practitioner gig bag that you may need to call upon when visiting various pagan communities and being exposed to varying degrees of human behavior. With that, we must keep in mind that none of this human behavior we Experience is to be taken in a personal way – no matter what is said or done verbally. Words carry power but as a Practitioner of this caliber, you would be well prepared for this on almost a daily basis, especially if you are consciously going into a situation.  Admittedly, the most difficult of those situations is with family. Have you role-played in your mind or “war gamed” in your mind to tactfully prepare how to respond to loved ones and friends in the most efficient — least energy used, way?

FALSE IMPRESSIONS
As most know by this point in their continued personal practices, false impressions due to fear mongering amongst others’ Paths can be most detrimental for those of us who have to help change and shape a more inclusive focus in spirituality. It effects friends, family and colleagues. We must instill in ourselves, the magickal fact that their words have no power over us outside of what we allow it. We must learn to sit with anger and not become angry, but empathetic. We must learn to sit with sadness and not become ‘sad’, but empathetic. When we as Practitioner Clergy allow emotion to drive our thought, all logic is lost and we can no longer lead others effectively to healing. Do you recall the Lessons on Empathy?

We are not controlled by the narrative set by others, but by the one we set for ourselves. We are not defined by false perceptions of others, we are defined by our perception of Self and our own personal Truth. Do not let that definition from OUTSIDE set the tone for your INSIDE, your practice, your belief, your clerical Path. YOU.

DEFINED BY THE NEGATIVE
Please spend some time with your Self and develop your definitions and answers to questions from others in an energy that is beneficial and strengthening to you and your practices. Sigilize it. Burn it in to your psyche. Talk to your Divine. Do not let the answers you give others be a story of everything you are ‘not’ but let it be what you ARE. Remember, words have the power we need, when we allow it. When being afforded the opportunity to utilize this source, grab it!

One of the primary questions Practitioners must contemplate is thus:
“If your brand of faith/practice became the societal norm, would it still be your practice?”

Sit with that.

Being able to answer that questions is not meant to bring forth rebellious thoughts of self rightousness, but to encourage true, unconditional love for what you are. LOVING who you are is essential. Is that where you are in your personal practices? If you are unable to feel Self Love on a regular basis, you may want to be mindful of counseling others in need. A lack of Self Love speaks to great unhealed Shadow. We must recall that “no two paths are the same” but technique can be alike between many people. Christianity. Hindu. Islam. Wicca. Yoruba. Taoism. Buddhism. Jainism. Any faith that has a ‘prescribed method’ to it typically has a specific technique in its practice. In time, there will be many, many more. If everyone ‘does what you do’, how thorough would the practice be? What notions are you setting forth?

Answering questions from those around you about what you are NOT — is not the same as answering questions about what you ARE.
READ THAT AGAIN.

You are an energetic being, just as everything is.

Shift the focus. Shift the mindset.

Here are some examples of responses framed in both positive and negative light when a Practitioner is being questioned by others:

(The answers are not indicative of anything more than an answer. It is on YOU to understand the principles you hold and the “why” for your practice.)

Negative: I do not believe in a ‘heaven’ or ‘hell’ as many organized Paths do.

Positive: I believe in reincarnation. (A statement in the affirmative or in the positive is more empowering for your mindset.)

Negative: I do not believe in ‘Satan’.

Positive: I believe in a Goddess, God, Deity… etc.

Negative: I do not believe any part of the human body is dirty or taboo.

Positive: I believe that our bodies are our temples which I utilize in my worship of my deity. (Example: Ereshkigal)

Spend some time with those you trust and have a practiced round table of question asking. This will build your instant recall in times of confrontation and shows your strength and preparedness for the world. Learn to answer from within and give answers and definition that are NOT based on what you DO. Once you have given those answers, you can always go back and give your explanations of ‘why’ to the person asking the question, simply do not begin your answer with negative, disempowering energy.
