Comparative Practices 101
Divine Couples

As we have learned, Inanna’s consort is Dumazid. Pele’s consort – or husband – is Wahieloa. Kali is known to be with Shiva, as She is the “untamed” and He is the “tamed”. You will learn, if you do not already know, Hekate in Her Greek mythos stories, married Aeetes – but we won’t give too much of that away.

The point is, Spirit has not been alone on this plane. And WE, Matter embodying Spirit, have not either. We have been a “couple” all along. The Elements, “pure energies”, Guides, Ancestors, Animal Allies, varied energies… Spirit with Matter …. WHOLE … THE WHOLE TIME. The Spirit, or energies, know they are a part of Matter, too. (Most of them.) They are all extensions of Her. It is Her energy in that perceived avatar of Matter when they manifest, whether it be Fire, Air, Water, or Earth. Of course Spirit can manifest as Spirit. ☺

The rest of our Kindred, the other animals, can perceive Her energies unmanifested more easily than humans can most times. Because of that ability, many animals react to Spiritual presence. Some of you already know this — you recognize this.

We who embody Her Divine love of Matter – in its purist form, embody the highest level of Self – Love. Unfortunately, most of us have been conditioned over time to perceive ourselves differently and often in a negative light.

CHALLENGE
Today/tonight, in the light of the Moon, if you wish to, we are going to perform an act of Medicine or Magick for Self-Love in some way or another. Even if you do not consciously realize you are doing it —you are going to perform Magick or Medicine today/tonight. Let us share some examples.

We will start with our beverages or food. We enhance or imbue the day with our Intent, even unconsciously, when we stir honey or lemon into our tea, cinnamon or cream in our coffee or even salt and pepper into our food. Each of those “condiments and compliments” carry its own energy and we are imbuing our day with it when we start with it.

Cleansing. Banishing. Protecting. Healing. Etc. We do it all without even realizing it.

Let us look at Element Water.

When we wake, if the first thing we do is drink water, we are allowing Water to not only nourish us and ‘break the fast” — we are cleansing inside of our Matter manifested body out the gate for the day. If we shower first thing, it is not to only “get clean”, it is also to wash all of the negative energy aspects we have accumulated for whatever time we deem, immediate if not specified, down the drain. Down those energies go, back to Anima Mundi, as She accepts ALL RIVERS back into Her oceans.

To keep balance when reading this, we have to ask, are you poo-pooing the idea of a “feminine” Divine?

We have been colonized mentally by a Patriarchal society and that may influence how we perceive the balance of all things. It does not matter what we identify as, this is a cultural Shadow and it is only as a culture that we will heal it.

Granted, there is a “great Oneness” to the Cosmos and an eternal attempt to achieve balance, but to have “life” on this plane, a union of Spirit and Matter has to occur. All That Is has a “masculine” and “feminine” aspect, as stated before, plant and animal alike. It is we, the individual who chooses to only see one aspect.

Why?

Ultimately, the “Divine Couple” IS Spirit and Matter, no matter what avatar they take on for us as a Practitioner, or the roles they assume on this plane.

Beginning Practicum
Elemental Magick

As we are working on our Elemental Group Craft, or have already done so, we recall that any time is a great time to Invoke Spirit, no matter the manifestation. For example, when calling on Element Fire, we are giving that extra “oompf” to some Craft we are working for it to BURN THROUGH any obstacles. It can even transmute!

Fire Magick has been practiced since, well, Fire was shared with us. Spirit brought the Knowledge with when It merged with Matter. If we recall, Nature starts big fires, with plasma and lava! Therefore, it is a very strong Element to work with, as well as it being adept at the Transmutive Property we mentioned. By this meaning, it can help change a “like” into “love” – or a “prospect” into a “hire”, whatever we are trying to achieve, Fire can help achieve it.

”How much should I use,” you ask.

For most spells, only a few embers are needed to power it. For others, a blaze is needed, especially if we are working against the Free Will of another or with a Transmutive Property of “change” that is needed. Burning this larger blaze is especially true if we are attempting to break a life long habit such as addiction or end abuse from another. A candle, or just lighting some incense for a little power, all the way to a “fire pit” or large burn bowl for a lot.

Energy matters.

”How bad do I want this?”
Again, as previously discussed, we hope you can see this as a colorful euphemism used in many societies for “sex” as well. It represents libido or sexual prowess, regardless of gender identity. None the less, the power of this can be harnessed for Element Fire for everything from Divination to Protection – and it will be strong!

Beginning Practicum
Magickal Tools
Sea/Water Witch Jar

We do not have to be a “Sea Witch” or “Water Witch” to practice Medicine or Magick with Element Water or anything from the many bodies of water that exist with Her. A powerful tool, these are often Crafted by the Sea/Water Witch Jar. SO CAN YOU.

CREATION STEPS
To begin, choose a jar of no particular size with a tight fitting lid. Go to the body of water closest to you, be it lake, sea, river, etc.

Walk along for a bit collecting things on the shore. Feeling.
Bits of wood. Stone.
Breathing.
Odds and ends that catch your fancy.

Once satisfied, find a nice comfortable place on the shore to sit. Lay the items out before you.

One by one, pick up each item and say these words: (or some of your choosing)

“Amulet of the Sea, which I have found,
Imbued with protective energy, to you it is bound.”

After placing each item with Imbued energy and words inside your jar, place a handful of sand or dirt into the jar and fill the rest with water from that source. Seal the jar with the lid and take it home.

Once home, dig a hole near your entry door -- large enough to bury the jar. If you live in an apartment or somewhere you cannot dig, bury it under a potted plant near your entry point.

Before you cover up the jar, say these words, or something similar:

”Waves on sand and tides in motion;
You are now a Silent Ocean.
Avert all harm away from me;
Send it out into the sea.

As I Will It, So Will It Be. “

You now have a protective tool for all — you and those who you deem that reside with you.
