Element Earth II
Five Elements are celebrated in Medicine & Magick. Element Earth, or Gnome as some call it, is but one.
As we know, a Greek philosopher named Empedocles made these Elements “famous” although our Ancestors already knew they were here. Look at the Sámi. Never having even heard of such man, they knew the Spirit manifested in this Matter… Earth.
Never the less, Empedocles is credited with establishing this cosmogenic thought on a larger scale. He believed these Elements are the root of all existing Matter. Indigenous were also in the same thought. Some of us still work in this as the metaphysical iewpoint has changed very little with advances of science. The Elements continue to be accepted in modern Craft or paganism as core building blocks. Practitioners believe it is because the Elemental Energy is more closely linked with emotions, the human psyche, and with nature than are modern explanations of the world as provided by scientist. In modern-day Wicca and Neo-Paganism for example, there is a good deal of focus on the Elements. Many traditions include all FIVE Elements, or what we know as Spirit or Self.
Each of the elements is associated with traits and meanings, as well as with directions on the compass as you have learned. The directions can change depending on your hemisphere, magickal tradition or personal preference.
Here is a little more on Element Earth.
Mother Earth, Herself, is a beautiful representation of all of the Elements but today we will focus on tangible “Earth”. Earth is simplified in Arcane Arts and symbolized as “the ground beneath us”. As you advance in your practices and embrace that we are WHOLE Beings, Spirit and Matter, It will also be understood as “stable thought” or “Will”. It is said that you are “spiritually grounded by Earth.” Any “life giving” soil on any planet in the cosmos, no matter its composition, as long as it can “give life” or “take it away”, no matter how different the “life” is it produces – is “Earth”. That is its purpose.
Whether it grows plants that convert oxygen or methane, it is still the same representation. For example, the “Earth” energy representative of Mars is made up mostly of “mineral” and some Water. On Earth, it is mineral, organic, Air and Water. See the difference? The Spirit can still be represented by this anywhere in the cosmos. It is simply varying “states of Matter” and its composition.
Here, or somewhere else, we call upon “the ground beneath us” as a Root of Spirit. To ground us. It aids us in growth, courage, prosperity, fertility, healing and help with life changes not matter the Rite of Passage. Keep in mind, Earth, as an Elemental, is not as strongly represented everywhere in the Universe and may have to balance or yield to other Elements to maintain an overall cosmic balance.
BASIC EARTH CORRESPONDENCES
TO CONSIDER IN PRACTICES
Planet contingent, some Practitioners will use the color black or white as a Correspondent of Earth. Are they “repelling” something? They often use “white”. Are they “absorbing” something? They will sometimes use “black” as that is known as the Absorber of All Colors, hence All Energies.
Colors: Black , Brown, Green
Goddesses: Cel, Ceres, Demeter, Gaia, Hathor, Hekate and many others
Gods: Geb (Egyptian), Tudi (Chinese), Veles (Russian) and others
Symbolizes: Courage, Fertility, Growth , Healing, Life Cycle (birth, life, death, rebirth), Motherhood, Prosperity, Stability, Strength

Ring Magick💍
Do you know how to increase energy — to the most beneficial levels for Self? Wearing rings! For those that are able to, these provide a great way to boost one’s already abundant energy. It can Focus it, especially if you Imbue a ring with a purpose.
Are wearing your rings according to what Path you walk? Maybe? Yes? If you do not, this correspondence is for you to consider. A “secret” not many carry with them, but those that do, understand its power. Some Paths, such as Hermetic (Masonic) have “ring requirements” for its members. Or, different adornments that end with the ring.
A ring is a symbol of power. It is associated with Time, Wholeness and never ending Energy. It is defined as: “a small circular band, typically of precious metal and often set with one or more gemstones, worn on a finger as an ornament or a token of marriage, engagement, magick, authority or any deemed purpose.” For example: "a diamond ring"
Some Practitioners connect rings with Ouroboros, the emblematic serpent of ancient Egypt and Greece represented with its tail in its mouth, continually devouring itself and being reborn from itself. The Cycle. The Circle. Spirit into Matter into Spirit.
With that, know there are divine purposes behind the wearing of the circle for many Practitioners. Knowing which hand and which finger to place your ring will help you perfect this spell – amulet or talisman, whichever you prefer. Before you read further, take note of which finger you wear rings, how often, to where, etc.
Because each finger has a special association with a magickal quality, knowing that distinction is half your spell. Some say this is why there is a certain finger for your wedding ring. Let us now look at each finger.
Throughout time, each finger has been associated with a Goddess or God. That act of adornment in itself gives us power from it. The fingers have their own correspondences. Here are a few:
(PLEASE NOTE: These Correspondences CAN be Path dependent.)

Pewter, which is an alloy of 85–90% tin with the remainder commonly consisting of copper, antimony, and lead, was used for flatware from the Bronze Age until the 20th century. Due to the toxicity of lead to most life, we do not use much of this anymore. You can use a substitute.)

“To safely bring forth…” (the aforementioned attributes)
No matter the finger, if you are going to Craft a specific amulet or talisman ring to wear, you would be best served to wear it on the finger that enhances its power.
Now, let us decide which hand to wear what on. We typically have two hands as a current human. Hence, we are naturally equipped with balance, or, with at least two magickal polarities we can draw from – NATURALLY. Most Practitioners have more than two. (Other dogmas corrupted our ability to often see beyond the two, even when we need too.)
The energy, the side (left or right) that is dominant for you, is your “projective” or “additive” or “constructive” side. That is considered “masculine” or Yang energy by some Practitioners. Some even believe it is ONLY on the right side. We say, it is up to YOU as to which side it is. The Creatrix DOES NOT make mistakes. If you are “left side dominant” then THAT is your natural “constructive” side. This is the side where you project your Intent into Matter, the world… the plane we live on.
The transverse is true for your NON DOMINANT side. That is your NATURAL “subtractive” or “deconstructive” side for Matter. It is the “receptive” side of Spirit and takes energy IN from it.
Confused yet? Reread that passage and ask for more clarity if it does not come to you.
LOVE RING AMULET/SPELL EXAMPLE:
“Find ‘love’ ” or “Increased Self-Love”
Thumb (Venus, Love, Aphrodite)
Copper /Copper alloy
Emerald
TALISMAN RING OF ABUNDANCE:
Let’s say you have an old gold ring laying around. You can design a sigil for “abundance” and carve it or have it engraved into the ring. Same concept with that gold spoon from your Gran’ma’s collection you lost. Instead of tossing out the one spoon you can find, make it a magickal service spoon. Again, you can engrave a sigil or simply Craft a spell and enchant the spoon for abundance.
“May my kitchen never be without food” (“May you never hunger”)
CORRESPONDENCE TIP
You can always utilize silver as a sub for ANY metal in your Works EXCEPT gold. Silver is considered pure of most earthen mixtures and is of the energy for “purity” and can adapt to any Intent that you give it.
It can be charmed in any fashion or for any purpose.
