Teaching Sexual Mysteries

BASICS
Something that many of us in leadership are aware of is the predatory nature of our species. Humans are apex predators for those of you who do not know. With that, there are preferred ways to handle sensitive situations, both with and without the involvement of law enforcement from our Community setting. When we are not able to be perceptive of the behaviors going on around us as a leader, it tends to shine on the Society as a whole because as Practitioners, we are ‘still in the woods’ so to speak. Be extremely mindful of others who are abusing their Clerical authority of teaching this sensitive esoteric knowledge. Both male and females have been incarcerated for sexually abusing others in the names of their faiths from MANY Paths.

It is strongly advised that Clerical Practitioners stay in the loop of situations in a loving and parental guiding Magick and Medicine sort of way with their Temple, Society, Community, etc. Not insulting or making light of any situation, nor treating others as children (unless they are), we carefully guide others with the best Intent for all, and NEVER for Selfish gain. As Practitioner Leaders, we tend to see and hear things that are happening that may harm another and it is an expected behavior to intervene, even if with only words, for everyone’s safety. Law enforcement is a ‘last resort’ but PLEASE do not hesitate to ask for help handling a delicate situation and protecting another Practitioner. SEXUAL MYSTERIES
Let us take for example, teaching the Sexual Mysteries. To begin, always be very clear and up front with all Practitioners so no one is blind-sided by a Rite or Ritual that may be performed with the Mysteries. This is NOT for discussing Sexual Mysteries but hands-on teaching, demonstrations, etc. Practitioners to themselves, energizing a sigil through masturbation, is the most common teaching of Sexual Mysteries. In most instances. Though, there are many Paths with Temples of active practice of Sexual Mysteries and Magick that are very successful, there are very clear and respected boundaries with their magick. Relationship boundaries are NEVER crossed in this situation. “No means NO”.

IDEAL TEACHER
The Sexual Mysteries are best taught by Practitioners who are well grounded with Ego and healed from Shadow of past Traumas. It is preferred they they are comfortable in their own sexuality and magick with honesty being their guiding star. Especially those who do not see it as a ‘procreative act’ but energetically powerful. It is best taught by a Practitioner who does not have taboos, limits, expectations of roles, unhealed past trauma (see above), etc, but is well capable of going with the energetic flow of the Divine. This often takes a lifetime to master and is not come by easily. There are actually very few Practitioners who can teach Sex Magick outside of the simplicity of the “Skyclad” nature of the past. There is so much more to Sex Magick than that aspect. Some of the strongest Practitioners that teach this Mystery are of the Chaos Path.

For the difficulty of teaching this Mystery en mass, many Clergy work with a Practitioner on a ‘one on one’ (ALWAYS HAVE ANOTHER PRACTITIONER PRESENT) basis and they explore what exactly the Practitioner is looking to learn VERBALLY before throwing them into a group dynamic of PHYSICAL learning. Above all else is DISCRETION. Being discreet falls right in line with Clergy – Practitioner Privilege and should ONLY be discussed with the Practitioner seeking guidance and other Leadership unless in a group setting. If in a group setting, OPEN DIALOGUE is encouraged so questions can be asked such as, “when is the sigil being charged in the act?” Others may have the same question. Being able to communicate and express the energetic flow during this process is essential to learning this Magick.

It is of utmost importance that your key take away as a Clergy Practitioner be that ABUSE OF POWER will not be tolerated. National BHS backs all law of our chosen Communities in which we live. Above all else, Free Will is a protects and inalienable human guidepost. Again, “NO MEANS NO”. Participating in Sexual Mysteries with other Practitioners is to be done with safety and responsibility FIRST and as the main priority. PROTECT SELF IN BOTH MATTER AND IN SPIRIT. Explaining what is happening in the energetic course of Work, then performing and teaching the procedure take priority after. All Practitioners MUST be on the same page with all matters of Magick being explored. Communicate. Communicate. COMMUNICATE.

We will say it again, not everyone can teach this Mystery. Western Society has been subdued by extensive dogma and many in Leadership from several Paths feel it is going to be years before the stigma behind this Craft quells and the repression of human nature and its predation balances out.
