First Fire Knowledge
Now that Dilsdohdi, ᏗᎵᏍᏙᏗ, or Water Spider has brought Fire back for all of the Animals of Matter to enjoy, we look at how the Human learns to work with Fire in a traditional sense.
In the beginning we learn that all myths are not for all humans. Just as not all teachers are for all students. Some people resonate more with something on the other side of the globe, while others feel connected right here in North America. With that in mind, learn what calls to you to Work with in Medicine and Magick.
With indigenous stories, for a very long time, only those who were invited by their Elders were the ones to begin hearing the Knowledge, or observing ceremony, and learning the traditions and their stories of the chosen Path. Very few were called on their own, by their Higher Self, because everyone has always been given an equal chance to learn to do this Life Work while on one’s Soul Journey. It is up to the individual to progress in their Experiences or not, following that guiding feeling.
But what if no one shared with you, OR did not share with you and the desire to Know was always there? What if you had no Elders or Caregivers that were spiritual or taught you how to Work with the Elements? We have each been touched by religious oppression for thousands of years now. This is the primary reason we no longer share that which was shared with us. Often, they who controlled the Fire controlled the Knowledge.
That must change for us to evolve. We all deserve the Fire, whether we squander it for Self or share with Others. Not many are sharing the Fire which they all already contain.
Mindset Matters. Personal value and Self Love, matter.
Are you ready to learn of the Fire?

Stories of Knowledge
Long ago, The Knowledge Keepers, Shaman, Elders, and other important and wise members of the tribe would gather, they would bring in the boys who had grown to be ready to learn the Ways. Or, the Medicine Women would gather all of the girls and work for the tribe and tell stories as tjhey cooked around the fire.
MALE CHILDREN GATHER
The males of the tribe would gather in their meeting place called asi. They would meet together at night in the asi, or low-built log sleeping house, to recite the traditions of their tribe and discuss Knowledge that had been passed orally in tradition for thousands of years.
FEMALE CHILDREN GATHER
Females gathered in their respective places too, as Female Magick and Medicine hold different mysteries to be divulged. For both asi, those who meet understand that there are those amongst them who are transitioning to the next stage of human development, regardless of how they identify. (Example, a female child who identifies as a male will STILL have a Moon Cycle flow.)
At times those who desired instruction from a more adept Elder met with that individual Knowledge Keeper separately because in the asi, where they sat up all night talking, it was for all males… or all females respectively. This was before the “coming of age” ceremonies came.
Fire Knowledge
With only the light of small flames and cinders burning in the middle of the floor, a young boy learned how to Work with Element Fire this way. (This basic Knowledge was shared with girls too, but by their female Elders.) He observed and listened to his Elders. He learned how to build and tend the Fire as he listened respectfully and did so with Intent.
As the nights passed and grew colder in the mountains of the Appalachia, he trudged on regardless of weather. He learned that the Fire was built upon the ground in the center of the small house, which was not high enough to permit a standing position, while the occupants sat in a circle around inside of it. The Elders taught him in time that inside of the Fire is placed a large flat rock, or many rocks, and near that outside of the flame is placed a pile of pine knots or splints.
When the Fire had burned down to a bed of coals, the boy lighted one or two of the pine knots and laid them upon the rock, where they blazed with a bright light until nearly consumed, when others were laid upon them, and so on until daybreak.
At daybreak the whole party, boys included, went down to the mountain stream, where the pupils or hearers of the myths stripped themselves. The Shaman or Elders would then scratch them across their naked skin with a bone-tooth comb in the hands of the Wise One. After scratching for the memory, older assisting younger --they waded out into the stream. It was early. Facing the rising sun, they dipped their bodies seven times under the Water, who is the Keeper of All Memories.
Back upon the shore, the Shaman, Wise One, or Elder, began reciting ancient words. This purification rite, is also a part of the Ceremony of Ball Play, the Green-corn Dance, and many other important rituals of Knowledge around the world.
While this night would be the boy’s first of many, tonight he learned of Element Fire and how to work with it.
How do you? Are you able to call on Fire if you were lost in the forest? Without a lighter or matches? Have you studied ways?
This is good Knowledge to ALWAYS have and share with those that come after us.
Lost Knowledge, Fire Building
Below you will find a few methods to explore. While you are not asked to complete this task for 3CMM, you are asked to hold this Knowledge. Share it if the moment ever arises. The EASIEST way to prepare for going into the forest is with flint and steel. But, if you find yourself suddenly needing to know, we are sharing this with you today in honor of Water Spider.
(If you attempt any of these methods, please share a photo and let us know!)
