Magick of a Circle

To Cast, or Not to Cast

Not all Practitioners use a Circle in their Magick or Medicine. But, before you decide to alter your personal practices to cast a Circle, it is essential to know WHY you are casting that Circle, as well as being acquainted with what you are calling to “guard your watchtowers”, or “gates”, or what energies you call in. To cast or not to cast, is something each Practitioner is wise to access Intuition to do what is their Highest Benefit. Whether you do it regularly or not, it does offer great Protection for heavy Works and is a “requirement” for some Paths.

Have you worked with these energies of Circle? How long has it been since you last worked with those specific energies?

It matters for your Intent. It matters how your Medicine and Magick will be powered. Are you using a finite resource like Personal energy? Are you using a battery or connecting to something external? Just as spells weaken, energetic bonds can too. Between molecules, or deity, over Time, it naturally dissipates to return to Balance.

Once you understand the “why”, you can then decide the “how”. The how is as diverse as the Practitioners casting them!

The purpose of a Circle, historically, is to raise a “cone of power”, or Spiritual energy, a FOCUS it on/with an Intent with the casting of that energetic, psychic, circle. This occurs around you or your fellow Practitioners during Craft, Ritual, or another place used to “gather ‘round”. The technique is as ancient as humans themselves.

We have held fast to this tradition of “circle” for thousands of years. It is used as Sacred Space for one’s decided Intent as well as asking a Deity, Elder, Ancestor, or Guides that we are working with if it an action is to be taken inside of Circle, or for Work should it need to be constructed outside of Circle safely. We ask how it benefits, or will cost. A Circle is also often used to connect with our Higher Self for the same purposes as mentioned above.

PURPOSES

Another purpose of the Intented Circle is to energetically seal a purpose around us, creating a “vessel” of energy in the space. Whether that Intent is Additive or Subtractive energy does not matter. Practitioners seal in the energies to enhance the Works, Protecting Self and the Craft, as well as others inside the Circle from Energy outside of the Circle that may not want to see the Intent come to fruition. (Elders that did not approve of the Path for example. Even in death, some do not “let go” of this dimension, or energetic space and continually attempt to influence it. Although weaker, some can still FEEL the energy being effected. We can begin to Intuitively determine that answer on an individual basis as we Work.)

Remember, the Universe always seeks to Balance and if that means stopping what Practitioners and what they are doing, it very well may try.

Any one of us can Experience that too when we honestly cast a Circle from the Heart, with our own sacred words and call upon the energies that call to us. (Analyze what you do in your practices and understand your why. The answer may surprise you.)

Simply stated, a Circle is an Energy Construct, shaped by Intent and filled with Thought and Emotion towards our chosen Work. (Remember that talk about “emotion” and Soul Retrieval? One thing connects to another.) If constructed strongly in the prescribed method for the Work at hand, the energy is known to affect those inside of the Circle. This is to be expected as we are collectively raising a “cone of power” or Energy, hence, cleansing before AND AFTER is a good idea. It is also a good idea to eat or drink to replenish what was burned as energy from each of us personally.

It does not matter if we are bathing in sound on a butte with a drum circle or dancing for MidSummer in our rooms… CLEANSE. Mainly because we collect others energies throughout the day and carry them with us to Craft. Some of us are VERY good at cleansing…. some need to practice the technique when they arrive home from somewhere before they enter their property. #HygieneIsImportant

CIRCLE BASICS

This is a basic Crafting Skill that Practitioners become better at the more they utilize it. It becomes easier the more naturally we flow with Self. Know that every Work does not need a Circle, though. Taking a magickal shower or preparing some Kitchen Witchery for dinner do not always require such measures. Especially if you keep your property warded, but that is another story!
