Minor Arcana

Looking at the number nine cards, we know that nine is representative of completion, as it is the last of the single-digit numbers (which are known as cardinal numbers in numerology) and the highest in value. That said, it symbolically represents a culmination of Wisdom and Experience, and buzzes with the energy of both endings and new beginnings. (Newtons’ Third Law re:energy)

Pentacles - Coins, Diamonds (Physical)

This card has an abundance and surety to its sight. It is representative of Independence, success, financial stability/security, profit, prosperity, wealth, property, abundance, rewards through hard work, collecting on investments, thriving business, status, freedom, wisdom, maturity, indulgence, contentment, self-discipline/ control/ reliance, sophistication, elegance, grace, beauty, pregnancy, birth, menopause, mature or independent woman, retirement, taking it easy. In the RWS system, she gazes upon the fruits of her labor and can reap the benefit.

This card also speaks to Couples sometimes, not just human species. Good relations. Woman and Falcon. Game. Wine of Life teaches self-reliance. Lush nature. The Falcon symbolizes exploration and training in a current or new skill. Work imbued will last for generations. Leadership. Wealth. Showcasing abilities.

SPIRITUAL MEANINGS
In a spiritual context, the Nine of Pentacles tells us that the previous effort we have placed into pursuing our personal spiritual path will pay off leaving us full of confidence. We have gained great insight and wisdom from the Journey. Spiritually, everything we need we should have in abundance when this card appears. Be sure to thank the Universe and those that have helped along the way by paying it forward.

Cups — Chalices, Hearts (Emotional)

There is a look upon this person’s face that speaks to the feelings of Happiness. Being satisfied. Loyally. Abundance. Physical is their current single focus but they know now is the time the for Spiritual Journey. Expanding. In a general context, the Nine of Cups Tarot card is a positive card which indicates the Querent wishes will be coming true or that dreams will become a reality.

If they have Experienced hardship, sorrow or pain recently, this card says that the bad times are behind now and a time of happiness, joyfulness and fulfillment is coming. With this Minor Arcana card appearing in our Tarot spread we will be able to accomplish anything we put our mind to as it represents triumph, success and achievement.

Our efforts will not go unnoticed either as it also signifies recognition, acclaim and even fame. The Nine of Cups also represents having high self-esteem and self-confidence. It is a card of celebrations and parties.

It is not only we who feel the emotion of our Focus manifesting, others will begin feeling it too.

SPIRITUAL MEANINGS
In a spiritual context, the Nine of Cups indicates that we will be feeling happy and fulfilled on many levels and we will be emanating positive energy and love to those around you. (See above?)

Swords - Scepters, Spades (Thought)

In a general context, the Nine of Swords is another of the fear and anxiety cards in the Suit of Swords. Similar to the other fear cards, this card is NOT an indication of negative events actually happening, just that our fear and anxiety levels are so high we are causing our Self to feel that things are worse than they REALLY are. In short, we may be making mountains out of molehills. It represents stress, burdens, negative thinking and deep unhappiness. Feelings of being overwhelmed and unable to cope with or face situations, problems or just life in general and the Querent may have reached their breaking point.

It is a Minor Arcana card of mental anguish, remorse, guilt, regret, joylessness and despair. One may wish they could go back in time and re-write the past when it appears. It can also signify feeling isolated and being the subject of gossip and it can represent nightmares and insomnia. But we must remember, this is usually brought on by Self.

We notice Self cruelty. Sleeplessness. Lost passion. Feeling of being stabbed or overcome with sadness. Regret. Insecurity. Delay. Pine. Obsession. Unhealthy situation. Symbolically the roses in the blanket represent a promise of new life from their Divine.

Chakra blockages may be found from the Heart through the Crown. Is this person NOT speaking their mind and causing Self pain? Is the Querent having negative thoughts of Self? Explore this energy blockage.

SPIRITUAL MEANINGS
In a spiritual context, the Nine of Swords indicates that the anxiety and stress we are experiencing at the moment has left us feeling overwhelmed, ungrounded and out of touch with our spiritual side.

Some beneficial actions to remember that always hel: Reiki, grounding exercises or meditation are MOST beneficial to us during the peak energy of this card. These efforts can aid in reconnecting with Self and spirituality, brining us back into balance.

Wands — Staves, Clubs (Transformative Energy/Spirit of Fire)

Looking at this card we see a seemingly haggard individual. It is now time for clarity. Wake up! YOU are almost through the battle. The final fight upon us before the last piece is solved or challenges us. Self, or our Querent, will prevail, but how well will depend on how prepared they are for what is ahead.

The Querent is solidly backed, but has a fight ahead.

SPIRITUAL MEANINGS
In a spiritual context, the Nine of Wands indicates that we have gone through a difficult time and we are feeling burnt out and worn out. However, things are looking up and we have learned our karmic lessons by the point of this card’s arrival, so we will be able to move forward on our spiritual path!

Work on your energy levels first.

Meditation or Reiki may help to restore them.

Major Arcana

The Hermit IX

The Hermit Tarot card in an upright position generally indicates that they are entering into a period of soul searching, self-reflection and spiritual enlightenment. The Querent may find that they need time alone to gain a deeper understanding of Self, to remove Self from the daily grind in order to discover the true spiritual self, contemplate existence, direction in life or personal values.

The Hermit can also indicate isolating or withdrawing into oneself in order to recover from a difficult situation, but this is not always the case. This Major Arcana trump card can suggest that the Querent may be going through an anti-social phase where they simply do not want to interact with people as much as normal for them. The Hermit is wise, mature and knowledgeable and may be an indication of someone seeking the services of a counselor or psychiatrist.  This is a time to focus on Self and meeting one’s own needs.

Other things to consider: Illumination, Introspection, Seeker, Herdsman, Harvester, Solitude, Showing others the light. Guidance, Helping, Prudence, Teaching, and symbolically the star in the lantern represents Time is mutable.

Aliases: Pilgrim, Sage and Philosopher
Zodiac: VIRGO - August 23 - September 22

The Moon XVIII

In general, this is indicative of “everything is not as it seems”. It is also the Major Arcana Tarot card of Intuition. The Moon tells that something about a situation or person is not what it appears to be and the need to trust what our instincts are telling us in order to see past this illusion. The Moon also indicates that one should pay attention to dreams as the subconscious may be bringing attention to some information that has been missed.

The Moon can also signify that anxiety or fear is being allowed to overwhelm which may be having a negative effect on the outlook and causing mood swings, instability or insecurity. It can also represent a woman’s menstrual cycle. The Moon can also signify dormant insecurities or repressed issues resurfacing. The Moon Tarot card can represent underhanded or dodgy deals or illegal behavior. If it appears in this context, it is a warning the Querent to clean your act up before the behavior is publicly exposed. If awaiting a decision on something, the Moon indicates that the answer will either be delayed or be so vague it will add to the confusion rather than clarify matters. Pay attention to what surrounds this card. Ask “what is hiding”.
