Contemplations 103
Aristotle
“The end toward which men strive in life is happiness.
Happiness for each creature is found in the best possible performance of that function for which he is peculiarly adapted. Man then finds his highest and most lasting happiness in the active life of his Soul in accordance with Virtue.
Virtue may be either (1) intellectual, the excellence of the reasoning powers, that is, prudence and wisdom; or (2) moral, the control of emotion and desires in obedience to reason, that is, liberality and temperance. “
