Deck Intimacy: Ancestor Blessing
It is always good to KNOW and FEEL the energy of your deck whether they are tarot or oracle cards. It is good to even know your pendulum, but lets stay here for consistency.
CONNECTION
With your deck in mind, even if you cannot visualize directly with a “picture”, you can read this and draw a picture, building what you “see” in your mind with your other sense. Sound. Smell. Touch. If you will, visualize an entity or being holding the deck as you hold the deck, mirror imaging you. Hands not unlike your own, touching yours. This is how your Higher Self, or Divine speaks sometimes. That is also how your Ancestors and Spirit Guides speak. Through this energy exchange of “connection”. If you are sincerely connected to your deck, especially if it is personal, you will feel if it is a good time to divine or not, DRAW OR WAIT. Another situation that many Practitioners develop is the use of a separate deck, or decks, each serving a different purpose. For example, some Practitioners have a ‘personal deck’, a deck they use to draw for others, a deck for study, etc. That Key deck is your personal one.
With that in mind, we are going to explore our Key deck. We are going to SEE which Ancestor is typically on the Other side helping us, guiding us through this life-time to our crossing.
“Our past Experiences are not a burden;
ihey are sometimes the gift of those who have gone before us, helping us to safety and weathering our storms.
They empower and help bring us to this very day.
Accept their blessing and forgive the rest. They do.
You are free to be who you are meant to be and to create your own Experience of Matter.
Make yours a Magickal one, and fill it with the Medicine you make and share, and the energy of your Servants Heart will be returned to you each time.”
~ Reverend Richoz, RN on “Ancestors”
Set the mood. Give your senses what they need. That candle. Those incense. That beverage. Do whatever you typically do to set the mood for your Magick with divination.
Personal deck in hand, let us begin shuffling. Whether you can close your eyes and visualize family that have gone before, or simply random faces appear to you, try. Do not doubt. Do not fear. If you cannot visualize, simply let your gaze softly fall and your thoughts begin to drift. Let the thought of ‘familial’ pass through your Minds Eye as if clouds or a rolling brook. Do this for as long as you feel you need.
When you feel you are ready to stop shuffling, stop.
Hold the deck face down, sitting it in front of you on the floor, table, altar, etc. Separate the deck into two piles.
Ask aloud, or whisper, “which Ancestor guides me today”, or something along those lines --that you wish to ask the Universe instead regarding which Ancestor is present and assisting.
With your hand hovering over the two piles, feel where to draw the top card from one of the two piles you see before you.
The card you choose to turn over — THIS card represents one of your Ancestors.
What do you see? Do you know instantly who this is? What personal do they have, male or female? What birth sign does this card correspond to? Does that match the Ancestor you saw in your Minds Eye?
After spending a few moments analyzing this card, give thanks or show gratitude for your Ancestor being there. Offer a beverage (May you never thirst), food (May you never hunger), light a candle (May the torch of Phosphoros be held high for you to see), or what you feel is best to show gratitude and thanks.
If this Ancestor is not on your ancestor altar, give it some consideration. If you do not have an ancestor altar, consider a small one. If you prefer, take a moment outside with the Elements and speak to your Ancestor. The choice is yours but now you KNOW. Do not doubt what you see.
Please include this information with your submission:
1. What deck are you drawing from?
2. What card did you draw?
3. Before you turned the card over, what was your interpretation of the card?
4. What is the FIRST thing you noticed about your card that was relative to what you were feeling as you turned it over? Did that mold, change, or evolve the feeling? Is it what you had in mind?
5. Read the card creator’s ‘book meaning, how close to this was your interpretation with relevance? Did you have to draw another card or two for clarity?***
