Magick & Medicine
Moon Phase Magick
Did you celebrate your Medicine or Magick this moon phase?
Did you install an App on your device or consult resources to aid you in finding the moon this cycle for your Partner Spell?
Even when we cannot see Her, Luna is there! Even if we do not Work with Her, She effects the Cycles on our planet, thereby our energies. We cannot throw a rock in the pond of Energy without making ripples. And, with a radius of 1,080 miles, She’s a big one!
Incense for Magick
While there are many Plant Allies that provide for incense in both Medicinal and Magickal Workings, these are typically “ready made” for us by others. It only matters as much as we believe it matters whether they be apothecary shoppes that make their own, or we buy them at the grocery store down the road. We can even find some of these “in the wild” and naturally grown around our place of dwelling most times.
Choose what calls to YOU, not someone else. Ask yourself, what Plant Ally is calling to me for the Intent of this Work?
Take for example either of these, Angelica, Apple Blossom or Basil. These can be grown in our Practitioner’s Garden … or our fellow Practitioner’s garden. It does NOT have to be “bought” at all to work and empower our Magick and Medicine, nor does it have to be “personally made”.
YOU DO YOU, UNLESS, a specific thing on a specific Path is being called for.
Then, to achieve the same or similar results as the Path the Work is written for, utilize what is recommended until the Work is complete.

Selenology
Do’s
The Universe gives us a little Medicine & Magick for Self exploration every 28 days or so. It gives us regular energy bursts so small it may be missed by many Practitioners altogether. Some may even go as far as to call this energy — “hidden” BECAUSE they do not attune to it.
Luna is mostly invisible from each side of the Earth for a few hours every 24 as She circles. Despite Her absence, this lovely energy, whether it be of the Dark, Balsamic or New Moon, is similar every 28 days or so for Practitioners to harness for their Intents.
NEW MOON
In astrological terms, the New Moon is one of the moon’s many phases we have been spending this entire cycle for Moon Watch discovering —specifically, the phase where the moon and sun align with Mother Earth. Our star Sol shines behind the moon, shielding us from its view. This is what we call the New Moon. At new moon, the sun, Earth, and moon are aligned in space, with the moon in the middle. The moon's night side – its darkened hemisphere – directly faces us making it invisible.
As we have learned, the New Moon marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle and often brings with it an array of new beginnings. This leaves new moons feeling like a particularly ideal time for self-reflection, course correction and goal-setting.
Have you grabbed this time for its power?
Interestingly enough, most Practitioners are unconsciously already aligned with the energy, tending to create new habits, start new projects and initiate life changes unknowingly around the same time as the new moon phases occur in their lives. Consciously embracing the new moon’s fresh energy can allow our Intent to propel through a multitude of transitions even further.
Here are a few Do's.
Consider this a field guide to new moons in all their energetic glory—a resource we can revisit every 28-30 days from here on out, if we wlike.
NEW MOON DO’s
Set an Achievable/Measurable Intention
Every month, the moon delivers us an extra boost of Intention-setting energy for our Works. Why not hone it by focusing on one or two Intentions we are particularly passionate about?
Take some time to craft Intentions that are clean, clear, curious and as specific as they can be made — FOR YOU, and at times, as if they have already occurred.
Think: “I have a new job that brings me fulfillment, with a higher salary than I currently have.”
Or: “I have PASSED the bar exam.”
These Intentions are clear, specific, and PRESENT. Not only will they inform the Universe of our intended aspirations, but they all also keep us focused on what it is we are really after.
Light
Bring some light into life in some other way. Lighting a candle, actual or LED, on the darkest nights of the month. This signifies our desire to bring just a little more light into our life. Tell the Universe to shine light on the Intent during this new moon and all the ones that follow it.
Utilize other Correspondences relative to the Intent. Colors. Herbs. Days. Etc.
Charge the candles with an Intention Wish to manifest during this moon cycle. (This is where you can practice “blowing out” with the chosen Intent held in mind while calling on Element Air.) Simply hold the unlit candle, summon feelings of gratitude and love, and tell the Universe what it is that is needed or wanted. Light the candle, and allow it to burn out on its own or snuff it and relight it each night with the same invocation.
Begin Something New
The new moon is the most fertile day of the lunar cycle each month. If there was a perfect time for initiating anything new, it would certainly be the new moon!
Start a new class.
Apply for that job.
Ask that person on a date.
Start anything and everything that is felt passionately. Now is the perfect moment to begin anew.
Go on a First Date (Self Love too!)
Speaking of starting something new—a first date with Self or Other is a wonderful activity for a new moon. “I’m taking myself for ice cream!” The Universe is brimming with energy and possibility—the perfect time to plant the seeds for a new relationship and what we each desire to manifest in nigh. At this syzygy, or conjunction, a lot of times we will Experience a person exhibiting more of their "Moon" or "Rising" personality traits as the power of the Sun is BEHIND the Moon.
Did you look at your natal chart on the link posted for previous Lessons in Wahya Circle? What’s your Moon Sign?

Make a List
Remember those Intentions we talked about earlier? Well, if we want to super-magnify them, make a list of 15 of the items/details we would like the Universe to bring.
Choose the “First Five” and those will be the main focus this moon cycle. Remember, be clean, clear and curious!
Say the Intention is to find a new job, because the Intent was mentioned.
Where will your office be? See it.
In a quaint office park? An old home conversion? A high rise downtown?
What will your hours be like? Feel it.
Are you waking up earlier? Going in later? Working LESS?
What will your boss be like? Hear them.
Are they telling you "job well done". What kinds of projects are you being asked to work on?
Taste the job completion luncheon with new clients.
The same steps go for Love.
You have cleared the path of your life for something or someone “new” to enter, something or someone more beneficial to you.
What type of relationship do you want?
(Think about what will and won’t be able to be lived with. If you broke up with someone over dirty socks, REMEMBER THAT.)
See it. What do you do with your partner for fun? (Are the balanced in their work and personal life?)
Smell the mountains or ocean air you visit with them.
Make it as detailed as possible. Write about it in a journal. The idea is to create an image in our mind of what this new situation will look like when we get there, so we can stay focused on what’s truly meaningful to each of us.
The saying goes,
“if ya can’t ‘see it’, ya can’t be it.” There is something that remains in the path or blocking in from manifesting.
Create Sacred Space
This is the most important. This space is with each of us throughout our time here on this plane. The new moon is the optimal time for setting a sacred space in our home to make our own Medicine and Magick. Cleanse the energy of the place where it will be utilized in meditation, manifesting and self-reflecting.
Get the junk of the world out—and keep it out.
In time, when we enter that space, our bodies and minds will know it is time to make Magick or Medicine. The space will become a trigger.
Make sure after the space is set it up, it is kept clean and tidy to avoid bad vibes or energetic stagnation. It is not wise to allow others to move in or out of it, in any way and re-clutter. #PsychicHygiene
Do offer to help them set up their own "space" if they require one too.
Write/Make Your Own Ritual
If there is thought of salt circles and witches over a cauldron, just remember that although these rituals certainly exist, that is not necessarily what we are talking about. Making our own ritual is simply a matter of creating a set of Practices we commit to doing during every new moon -- that are CREATED BY EACH OF US. It could be as simple as meditating, taking a yoga class, or writing a list, and taking time out for Self. Or, it can be as elaborate as creating a space, making a crystal grid, taking a cleansing bath or smudging our entire home during the new moon phase. Yes, all can smudge, or sain, or smoke, or cleanse related to whatever Path we each follow.
Whatever it is, make sure it incorporates taking a moment to reflect and plant a few seeds of Intention. Taking periodic pauses can help us to avoid venturing too far down a Path that is not aligned with our hearts, minds, or Spirits.
Utilize the new moon as a reminder to stop, access and maneuver to the dreams of our Highest Benefit.
Selenology
Don’ts
Utilize the energy for those things that can propel in its cosmic wave of energy. Watch the sign Luna is in as well as the phase …AND UTILIZE IT! Of course, not everyone does this. “No two Paths are the same.” Otherwise, this is a great resource to have.
Here are some “don’ts” to consider during a full moon phase.
DO NOT Quit Something You Care About
As we just learned, the new moon is about creation or new beginnings. Because it is a “path of least resistance” time, the strength of our Star is cosmically blocked and cannot override our personal energy as easily. Of course, sometimes we have to let go of something FIRST. Habits, people and situations that no longer serve us to our Highest Benefit are noted.
This is why deciding to give up on anything we truly care about on a new moon may have proved to be a waste of energy. Addiction is primary here, food, sex, nicotine, alcohol, words, thoughts, etc.
Now, here we are at the full moon phase and the energy is NOW available to aid us in breaking that non-beneficial tie.
At the Dark Moon, we safely funneled our energies to start this new habit into a psychic vessel or container of our choosing. The sometimes disruptive strong Solar energies were shielded from our internal energy by the moon.
We KNOW we want to change something, but we gotta clear the path FIRST.
Seeing the vessel filled with our psychic Intent will remind us to do our part to manifest this action into our reality. The full moon will help with that “tie breaking” or “habit breaking” or with what is needed energetically.
Allow us to clarify. Luna won’t do it for us, but She will support us energetically so the “old habit” is broken on the full moon phase, the path is cleared by you, and the new beginning can take place on the next dark moon.
Make sense?
DO NOT Avoid New People
New moons are notorious for bringing new people into our lives, again because that energetic “path of least resistance” is wide open and present.
Let them. We can always shift their energy AWAY from us or our property at the full moon.
Consider though, these newcomers often bring us lessons that our souls crave or need to Experience for Soular evolution that we may not otherwise receive.
Do not miss out on these. If you do, the opportunity to “learn” their Universe driven lesson may not circle back for years, if ever. A missed opportunity will open you up for festering emotions, SUCH AS NOSTALGIA, that may add things you did not have to Experience to arrive at this future.
BE OPEN. Stay clean, clear and curious!
When we encounter someone different or outside of the usual personality types we surround ourselves during a new moon, be open and curious. Try to learn about them safely at this time. The full moon is coming, which aids us to “push away” that which we do not like or have energy for, and we may never know what joys or ideas they may bring to our Experiences of Matter.
BE MINDFUL.
A warning… if a trauma is currently happening at the new moon phase for you, personality types that feed off of that energy you are Experiencing or pulling in will appear.
DO NOT Decline Unexpected Invites
Again, opportunities. While a new moon is a BETTER time to get out of the house as energy is calmer and there is seemingly less aggression, the masculine energy that is stronger during full moons may be what is needed if ILLUMINATION is being sought.
Are you looking for an answer? You may find it on a full moon.
Regardless of moon phase, there is a reason, good, bad, indifferent, that you were invited out. Plan accordingly. #TryIt
DO NOT Feed Vampires or DO NOT Spend Time with Energy Suckers
They seem to be more prevalent on dark or new moons than full, as Hollywood would have you believe. As stated before, energy flows differently from us on new moons and those that are addicted to the negative energy “feed” during that time. FULL MOONS allow for greater energetic Protection.
Consider a FULL moon outing over a NEW moon outing if the goal is to simply enjoy what you want. A person, place or thing without added energy-draining people wandering in.
NOTE: Psychologically “unstable” is not the same. These are people who are already in a weakened state being effected by the Full Moons aggressive and masculine energies.
Wear some tourmaline or Dragon’s Blood and ROCK ON!
Think About It
The New Moon is a good time to take stock in Self each month. Look at where you have been and where you are going. Look at what you have learned, and what you would like to. Meditate deep within. Ask for dreams. Set your Intentions for the next cycle.
The energy of the full moon can help propel you to your Truth.
What do you see?
